Backend enforced

Hidden buttons are not the only protection. Chat and mail recipients are checked by the backend before conversations or mail threads are created. Direct-message blocks are also enforced by the backend before a DM message is sent.

DM blocking

DM blocking only blocks one-to-one direct messages. It does not block a user globally and does not stop either person from participating normally in shared group chats.

Encrypted communication

Chat and Mail show an end-to-end encryption note where conversations are listed. Message content and supported attachments are protected for trusted recipient devices; notifications and badges use general text instead of private message text.
