Timetable and Schedules

Create teacher-owned schedules and understand student and teacher timetable views.

Schedule teacher

Every schedule belongs to exactly one teacher. Sections can still have multiple assigned teachers, but each schedule slot must choose one teacher from that section teacher pool.

  • Section create and edit pages manage the teacher pool for a section.
  • If a section has one teacher, schedule forms default to that teacher. If a section has multiple teachers, the schedule must explicitly choose one.
  • Student timetables remain section-based and show schedules for enrolled sections.
  • Teachers only see schedule slots assigned to them.
  • The teacher name shown on a timetable slot is the teacher selected for that slot.
  • Removing a teacher from a section requires moving or deleting any schedules owned by that teacher.

Repeating weekday slots

Repeating a schedule Monday through Friday creates the same class time for each weekday. Use it only when the class truly meets at the same time, room, and teacher every weekday.

  • Review the start time, end time, room, and selected teacher before saving the repeated slots.
  • If one day has a different time or room, create that day separately instead of using the weekday repeat.
  • Conflict checks still apply to repeated slots, so one busy day can prevent the schedule from saving.

Conflict checks

EduVerse checks for section, room, student, and selected-teacher clashes before saving a schedule. Conflict messages identify the conflicting teacher, student, or room and show where that resource is already occupied.

  • A teacher should not be assigned to two class slots at the same time.
  • A structured room should not be assigned to two class slots at the same time. Rooms with the same name in different buildings are treated separately.
  • A student should not be enrolled in two overlapping class slots.
  • End time must be later than start time.
  • If a conflict appears, use the named conflicting schedule to decide whether to change the new slot or update the existing one.

Date and admin view

The timetable shows the general weekly view when no date is selected. Selecting a specific date narrows the timetable to that date/day. Admin users do not see a synthetic organization-wide timetable on first visit because it would not represent a usable whole-school schedule.

  • Leave the date blank for the full weekly timetable.
  • Use the previous and next buttons beside the date picker to move one day at a time after choosing a date.
  • Admins should select a teacher, room, or student before reviewing a timetable.
  • Compact slots still show clickable room and teacher links.

Common mistakes

  • Selecting a teacher who is not assigned to the section.
  • Using weekday repeat when one day has a different room or time.
  • Forgetting that teacher and room conflicts can block a whole repeated set.
  • Expecting the time column to stay fixed while the timetable scrolls horizontally.
